Spain Remains Morocco’s Top Trading Partner for 7th Consecutive Year

Morocco and Spain maintain excellent trade relations. This is revealed by the Spanish media El Economista, which reported that for the 7th consecutive year, Spain has established itself as Morocco’s top trade partner in 2018.
While geographically, Morocco and Spain are close to each other, this proximity is also felt on the commercial level where the two countries are exemplary. Indeed, the trade relations between the two kingdoms are thriving. This is the conclusion of the analysis by the Spanish media. According to El Economista, "Spanish companies and investors favor Morocco for the development of their business."
Citing the sectors that benefit the most from this situation between the two countries, the media mentions pell-mell, textiles, automotive and its sub-sectors, transportation, renewable energies and tourism. Here in particular, "major Spanish hotel groups have decided to establish and develop their activity within Morocco, due to the proximity between the two countries, as well as the cultural melting pot that binds the two kingdoms," notes El Economista. And the result, quite eloquent in this sector, notes that out of "the 12.3 million tourists Morocco welcomed in 2018, 14%, or 2,493,000 individuals, were Spanish."
Two important reasons push Spanish investors to favor Morocco. These are first "the competence of the workforce, but also the favorable climate for the development of their activities," notes the Spanish media. And to add that all this is justified by the presence of large multinationals in the sectors mentioned above, but also by the infrastructure available in the kingdom, in particular the Tanger Med Port, the Kenitra Free Zone and the high-speed rail line.
El Economista does not forget "the stable political climate, in addition to the geostrategic position of the kingdom, which serves as a hub and gateway to Africa." All these advantages position Morocco at the top of the list of preferred trade partners for Spain.
