Spain Rejects Morocco’s Claims of Lax COVID Protocols at Airports

The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, described as "unacceptable" on Tuesday the accusations of Morocco regarding the non-compliance by Spain with the health protocols in the airports before the boarding of passengers.
In a statement published on Monday, the Moroccan Ministry of Health indicated that Spain does not "strictly" respect health controls at airports and represents a "threat" to the Moroccan population. It added that several positive Covid-19 cases have already been detected from Spain on private flights, and that for this reason, Morocco will not resume its flights with Spain.

In response, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, stated that these accusations are not "acceptable" for Spain because they do not "reflect reality". These accusations are "not based on any objective basis" especially since Spain has already vaccinated 89.7% of its population aged over 12," he specified, adding that "Spain, as everyone knows, respects all the most demanding international standards in the fight against Covid-19".
The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that he will make the official data on the health situation in Spain available to the Moroccan authorities.
