Spain Recruits 6,500 Moroccan Workers for Strawberry Harvest Season

The Foundation for Foreign Workers in Huelva (FUTEH), in coordination with the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and municipal agents, has just recruited 6,500 Moroccan seasonal workers for the next strawberry campaign in Huelva, Spain.
Contracts have been granted to the 6,500 Moroccan seasonal workers recruited, reports Barlamane. They will be paid 40 euros per day for six and a half hours of work, according to the agreement reached. They will also be registered with the Spanish social security system for the entire duration of their work in the country. "They will have the same conditions as Spanish employees or any worker from the European Union," said the labor advisor at the Spanish embassy in Rabat, Fermín Yébenes.
For their part, ANAPEC and the Ministry of Labor have organized a training program for 200 women. The latter can take administration and Spanish language learning courses at the end of their working day. According to the organizers, the goal is to encourage them to start their own businesses in Morocco, in the form of cooperatives or public limited companies.
With the demand for labor related to strawberry production reaching 19,000 people, the recruitment of Moroccan seasonal workers for the next strawberry campaign in Huelva (Freshuelva) continues.
