Spain Raises Alarm Over Morocco’s Cloud Seeding Program Amid Drought Concerns

Faced with persistent drought, Morocco has decided to intensify its cloud seeding program. This technique, which aims to artificially induce precipitation, is causing concern in Spain, where meteorologists are sounding the alarm.
The Moroccan government has released 10 million euros to increase precipitation by 15% in certain regions of the country. While this measure may seem like a boon for Morocco, it could have unpredictable repercussions on neighboring Spain.
Spanish meteorological experts warn of the risks of cloud seeding. Heavy rains in unprepared areas could cause flooding and erosion. The alteration of atmospheric humidity could also lead to droughts or torrential rains in unexpected regions.
They also warn that climate manipulation raises ethical and political questions. The long-term consequences of these techniques are still poorly understood and could lead to an increase in extreme weather events. Moreover, Morocco’s unilateral decision to alter environmental conditions could create tensions with Spain.
Spanish meteorologists are therefore calling for vigilance and preparation in the face of the potential consequences of Morocco’s cloud seeding.
