Spain Praises Morocco’s Efficiency in Annual "Marhaba" Transit Operation

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior expressed its satisfaction with the "high level of efficiency and coordination in the implementation of the "Marhaba" Operation", which is reflected, in particular, in a reduction in waiting times in ports and better services for travelers. Good organization that is explained by Morocco’s great experience in conducting this Operation.
According to the press release from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska highlighted "the experience accumulated over more than 30 years" by Morocco and which is the foundation of this successful "Marhaba" Operation. He especially made known the density of the Operation, stating that it is the "transit of more than 3 million people and 700,000 vehicles between the European and African continents over a period of 3 months", noting that the objective is to make possible the reunions between families and friends, on both continents".
The Spanish Minister of the Interior took advantage of this visit to go to the new respective headquarters of the Moroccan Consulate General in Algeciras, and that of the "Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity", set up at the service area of the Port of this city in southern Spain. An impressive area which, the press release points out, "also includes the premises of the Spanish Civil Protection and the Andalusian Health Service". These are structures that, according to a press release from the Moroccan Consulate General in Algeciras, contribute effectively to "improving the quality of services and benefits provided to members of the Moroccan community residing abroad, transiting through this Port".
Grande-Marlaska and the Consul General of the Kingdom in Algeciras, Abdelfattah Lebbar, during this visit, discussed the excellent relations between Morocco and Spain, as well as the best conditions for the success of the 2019 "Mahraba" Operation. These had already been the subject of a meeting that had mobilized the Moroccan-Spanish Joint Commission, on May 21 in Madrid.
