Spain-Morocco Tensions Rise as Drug Seizure Follows Migrant Crisis in Ceuta

While Spain has accused Morocco of "aggression" and "blackmail" following the massive influx of migrants to Ceuta, it seems to be allowing a significant amount of drugs to flow. The Moroccan security services, in particular the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), seized a large quantity of psychotropic tablets and cocaine from the port of Algeciras on Friday.
The Moroccan police elements, in coordination with Customs at the port of Tanger-Med, last Friday seized 361,672 tablets and 4.477 kg of cocaine from the port of Algeciras in Spain, reports Maghreb Intelligence. This operation comes at a time when tensions have risen a notch between the Iberian peninsula and Morocco.
Between Monday and Tuesday, 8,000 migrants - including 2,000 minors - illegally entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. A major migration crisis for Spain coupled with a diplomatic crisis with Morocco. Spain has accused Morocco of "aggression" and "blackmail".
The emergency admission of the Secretary General of the Polisario, Brahim Ghali, to a hospital in Logroño, under the assumed name of Mohamed Ben Battouche, of Algerian nationality, is at the origin of a diplomatic crisis between the two countries.
It appears, according to the publication, that Spain has turned a blind eye to this significant drug trafficking.
