Bankruptcy of Key Manufacturer Jeopardizes Spain-Morocco eVTOL Air Taxi Project

The project of air link between Spain and Morocco by electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) taxis is facing a new difficulty: the bankruptcy of the German manufacturer Volocopter.
This project, announced in 2023 by the private jet operator iJet, planned to connect Malaga airport to several destinations in Spain and Morocco from 2030. iJet was counting on fast and competitively priced journeys thanks to eVTOLs supplied by the manufacturer Crisalion.
However, the recent announcement of Volocopter’s bankruptcy raises questions about Crisalion’s ability to provide the necessary aircraft to iJet. If Crisalion uses Volocopter’s technology, the airline could find itself unable to meet the initially planned schedule. A postponement, or even an abandonment of the project, is therefore conceivable.
