Spain Leads Global Demand for Moroccan Peppers, Importing 45% of Exports

131.29 million kilos of Moroccan peppers were exported in 2019 worldwide, an increase of 29.1% over 5 years. Spain is the leading exporting country with 45% of exports (59.06 million kilos) for a total value of 55.83 million euros.
With these figures, Spain becomes the world’s largest customer for Moroccan peppers in 2019, reports le Matin. It is followed by France with 32.51 million kilos, or 24.76% of the total, for a total value of 29.18 million euros. In the hexagon, the Moroccan pepper was sold at a lower price than in Spain, with an average price of 0.898 euros per kilo.
As for Germany, it occupied the 3rd place, having exported 13.13 million kilos, or 10% of the total. These shipments generated 14.27 million euros, for an average price of 1.087 euros per kilo.
These exports generated 118.66 million euros in export earnings, or an average of 0.904 euros per kilo, according to data from the Estacom (Icex-Tax Agency) statistical service, reported by Hortoinfo.
