Spain to Launch Sea Repatriation of Citizens Stranded in Morocco

After several weeks of waiting, Spanish nationals stranded in Morocco will be able to return home starting Friday, May 22. This return will be by sea.
Since Morocco closed its borders, this is the first time Spain has organized the repatriation of such a large number of its nationals. This is a series of repatriations that will begin on Friday, May 22, with an initial connection between Tanger Med and Malaga.
It will be operated by one of the ships of the Balearia company, reports the Spanish press, which points out that "this ship has a total capacity of 650 passengers and 350 vehicles". After May 22, these repatriations will continue, always from the port of Tanger Med, more precisely on May 28 and June 4. In total, nearly 2,000 Spanish nationals or residents in Spain are affected by these repatriations.
Before May 22, Spain was able to evacuate about 369 of its nationals on board two flights operated by Iberia on April 3 and May 7. These repatriations were made possible thanks to the collaboration between the authorities in Rabat and those in Madrid and supervised, for logistical aspects, by the Spanish consulates in Morocco.
