Spain’s King Felipe VI Hails "Enormous Potential" in Morocco-Spain Relations

The King of Spain, Felipe VI, highlighted the excellence of the friendship relations with Morocco and the "enormous potential" for cooperation between the two countries.
The King of Spain, Felipe VI, during the reception of the members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Madrid, including the Ambassador of the King in Spain, Karima Benyaich, welcomed the notable progress in relations between the two countries. "The state visit we made in February 2019 to Morocco was a new testimony to the traditional friendship that strengthens the enormous bilateral cooperation," he said in his speech.
Furthermore, he presented the flagship reforms of the new coalition government’s foreign policy, which aims to promote a "modern", "democratic" and "solidary" Spain, with an open economy and a responsible society. He indicated that the Maghreb region constitutes, due to its proximity and the communion of interests, an essential dimension of the foreign action of the Iberian country.
In the field of migration, King Felipe VI saw the need to implement a "genuine European migration and asylum policy" that combines dialogue and collaboration with the countries of origin and transit of migrants.
King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia paid an official visit to Morocco on February 13 and 14, 2019, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, a visit that accelerated the dynamic of close and multidimensional bilateral relations.
