Spain’s King Felipe VI Calls for Renewed Diplomatic Ties with Morocco

King Felipe VI of Spain greeted his country’s relations with Morocco before the diplomatic corps accredited in Madrid. The sovereign also expressed the wish to see "the agenda of meetings with Morocco resume soon".
In an address delivered during a reception for the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Madrid, King Felipe VI of Spain said he hoped that the health situation would allow the two countries to resume the agenda of meetings with Morocco very soon [...]. For the sovereign, his country and the kingdom share common interests and challenges.
The Spanish sovereign also recalled that Spain’s relationship with the Maghreb countries is marked by proximity and friendship. In this regard, he expressed the hope that the evolution of the dialogue in Libya, which is taking place in particular in Morocco, would allow for a fully stable and peaceful Maghreb.
Continuing his speech, King Felipe VI also welcomed the development of relations between Israel and several Arab countries, while welcoming the resumption of contacts between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. For the Head of State, Africa is increasingly present in Spain’s foreign policy, "with a growing weight that reflects the great opportunities opening up on the continent".
