Spain Funds Halal Meals for Moroccan Navy Trainees at Shipyard

The Spanish government will spend 113,000 euros to provide a "halal and alcohol-free" menu for Moroccan military personnel training at the Navantia shipyard in San Fernando, as part of the agreement for the construction of the Avante 1800 patrol vessel for the Royal Moroccan Navy.
"The menus must be balanced and varied. They must also respect the precepts of the Islamic religion professed by the client, so that they do not include pork or alcohol, and the meats must bear the Halal seal," states the specifications drawn up for the catering provider in charge of feeding the 86 Moroccan military personnel training since February and until June 2026 at the San Fernando shipyard. They will be trained in the control of the Avante 1800 patrol vessel built by Navantia, according to Ok Diario.
The patrol vessel has a length of 87 meters and a total width of 13 meters. With a capacity to accommodate 60 people, it has innovative sensors and radars, electronic countermeasures, a 76-millimeter cannon and a missile launching system, as well as a helicopter capability. The Avante 1800 is also equipped with SAM, SSM and PDMS missile launchers. The agreement between Morocco and Navantia also includes technical and logistical assistance, as well as training for Royal Moroccan Navy personnel in Spain.
