Spain Extends Travel Ban from Most Non-EU Countries Until March 31

Spain has extended until March 31 the temporary restriction on non-essential travel from third countries, including Morocco, to the European Union and the countries associated with the Schengen area.
According to local media, residents of Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, China and the regions of Hong Kong and Macau are not affected by this measure. Based on the European recommendation of June 30, this list of countries has been modified several times to adapt the list of third countries, including Morocco, to the epidemiological circumstances, and recently to modify the criteria for establishing the list. Only Japan was excluded in the last extension, on January 28, 2021.
In addition, the Spanish government had extended until March 16 the restrictions imposed on flights from South Africa, the United Kingdom and Brazil to counter the coronavirus variants.
Like some countries, the Iberian neighbor had banned the arrival of passengers from the United Kingdom at the end of December 2020, with the exception of Spaniards and foreign residents in Spain, due to the spread of the British strain, much more contagious.
