Spain Expels 3 Algerian Migrants After Sea Rescue Near Ceuta

Khaldoune, Oualid and Wassim, three Algerian migrants from Fnideq, Morocco to Ceuta by swimming, were rescued at sea by the Guardia Civil on November 14. After being taken care of by the Red Cross, they were expelled to their country of origin.
The three Algerians were trying to reach Ceuta by swimming when they were rescued by the Guardia Civil. On board the Spanish patrol boat, they identified themselves as Algerians and presented their identity documents. A few days later, after being taken care of by the Red Cross, they were expelled to their country of origin, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
After spending five hours in the hangars set up by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior at the Ceuta border to accommodate migrants while waiting to be returned to Morocco, the three migrants were sent back to Algeria, via Morocco and Tunisia.
Wassim, a journalism student, Khaldoune and Oualid had intended to apply for political asylum due to their social problems. They denounce their expulsion from Ceuta. "Where are the human rights?" they ask. The three Algerians plan to file a complaint with the United Nations.
