Spain Expands Seasonal Worker Program, Recruiting 5,250 from Morocco and Honduras for Berry Harvest

The General Directorate of Migration of the Spanish government has authorized the recruitment of 5,250 new Moroccan and Honduran seasonal workers to participate in the next strawberry and berry campaign in Huelva.
The Spanish authorities have made this decision to cover the labor needs for the next campaign. The cultivation of strawberries and berries requires a large amount of labor, especially during the months of March, April and May.
An agri-food cooperative in Huelva wants to recruit more than 680 new Moroccan seasonal workers for this campaign. In this context, its managers traveled this week to the city of Fez to select the seasonal workers from among the 1,400 candidates who applied following the call for applications launched by ANAPEC, the Moroccan employment agency. The selected candidates will arrive in Huelva in March, reports ABC.
