Spain Deploys 14,800 Officers for Moroccan Diaspora Transit Operation

Spain announced on Friday the implementation of a major security system with 14,870 national police and Civil Guard officers for Operation Marhaba 2022 dedicated to Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).
After two years of cancellation for health and diplomatic reasons, Operation Marhaba is resuming this year. For this edition, 14,870 police officers will be deployed to ensure the safety of people and property. This was decided during the second meeting of the State Coordination and Management Committee (CECOD) of Operation Marhaba, led on Friday by the Under-Secretary of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea.

The official will also lead the Spanish delegation that will travel to Rabat on Thursday, May 5 to discuss the preparations for the Operation with the Moroccan authorities, reports Europa Press. The Director General of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Leonardo Marcos, the Director General of Traffic, Pere Navarro, representatives from the Ministries of Ecological Transition and Foreign Affairs, will be part of the Spanish delegation.
