The spokeswoman for the Spanish government, Maria Jesus Montero, declared on Tuesday, June 30, that her country will only open its borders with Morocco under one condition.
Spain agrees to open its borders with Morocco only in the event of a reciprocal agreement allowing Spaniards to travel to the neighboring country in North Africa, reports Reuters.
Morocco is on the final list of 15 "safe" countries to which Europe is reopening its borders starting Wednesday, July 1. On Tuesday, the ambassadors of the EU and Schengen area countries approved this list.
It remains to be seen whether, once the kingdom reopens its borders, Spaniards will be allowed to travel there.
