Spain Considers Extradition of Alleged Drug and Human Trafficking Kingpin to Morocco

The Audiencia Nacional will consider this week the extradition of Mohammed B., requested by Morocco. The accused, wanted for his alleged membership in a criminal organization specializing in drug and human trafficking, faces a 15-year prison sentence.
According to the Moroccan authorities, the accused, of Moroccan origin, would be the head of a network dedicated to international drug trafficking, including hashish, and his Spanish wife, the presumed owner of a boat used for the illegal transport not only of drugs, but also of people, the prosecution detailed in its submissions to which Europa Press had access.
The said pleasure boat was seized on August 21, 2022 by the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie as it was trying to enter Morocco with four large gasoline drums, the prosecution specifies. The agents discovered that the boat was not registered and that it was transporting drugs hidden in the rack. As for the accused, aged 44, he was arrested on October 19 and placed in pre-trial detention. In January, he opposed his extradition during his appearance before the court.
Given the elements at its disposal, the prosecution considers that the conditions are met to order the extradition of Mohammed B., noting that the crimes the Moroccan is accused of are not time-barred, that he is an adult and does not have Spanish nationality. However, it asks the Moroccan authorities to make available to the Spanish authorities, for information purposes, a report on the drugs seized on the boat.
