Spain Considers Closing Borders, Blocking Moroccan Diaspora Transit This Summer

Moroccans living abroad (MRE) who are used to passing through Spain to go to Morocco will probably not be able to do so this year. The Spanish authorities are seriously considering blocking all passages during the summer season.
For now, it is an option among others being considered by the Spanish government. "The government is preparing the scenario of a summer without tourists because of the coronavirus," headlines the Spanish newspaper ABC, adding that several sources within the executive have confirmed the ban on foreign tourists in the country and the outright closure of borders, and even if it is not explicitly stated, the passage of MRE should also be seriously limited or even prohibited.
In addition to this entry ban, Spaniards will not be able to leave the country, the same source believes, foreseeing a black year for the Iberian tourism industry, which last year attracted more than 82 million people, just behind France (86 million).
In addition to these limitations, the country should gradually but very slowly return to normal starting April 26. At least, that is the wish of the authorities. Public transportation between cities will be limited to the bare minimum, parents, for example, will also be able to take the train but the safety distance of more than one meter will have to be respected under penalty of sanction.
All these measures will be unveiled in the coming weeks by the government.
