Spain Boosts Security for World Cup Match Against Morocco in Lorca

A special security system will be put in place in the city of Lorca for the match between Spain and Morocco scheduled for Tuesday at 4 pm, counting for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar.
For this "very important" and decisive match, the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, announced on Friday the implementation of a special security system, calling on the supporters of the two teams to express their joy in "total respect for the rules of coexistence", reports La Verdad.
Hundreds of Moroccans celebrated on Sunday in the city the victory of the Atlas Lions against the Red Devils of Belgium in the World Cup, not far from the city center, where these kinds of demonstrations usually take place. Several patrols from the local police supervised these young people to avoid excesses and traffic problems.
This week, the far-right party Vox denounced acts of vandalism by young Moroccans destroying urban furniture during these demonstrations. A statement denied by the municipal security councilor, José Luis Ruiz, who stressed that no criminal act had been recorded, accusing Vox of distorting reality and undermining living together.
Security measures were also taken for the Morocco-Canada match played on Thursday, Ruiz recalled, specifying that the Moroccan supporters celebrated their team’s victory "in an orderly manner" and without incident. Similarly, "all necessary security measures" will be put in place to avoid excesses this Tuesday, he assured.
