Spain Blocks Public TV Journalists from Polisario Leader Interview Amid Morocco Tensions

Spain continues to play appeasement with Morocco. Journalists from the Spanish public channel TVE have been barred from participating in a professional trip to the Tindouf camps, during which their colleagues from other media will have to interview the leader of the Polisario, Brahim Ghali, at the origin of the recent diplomatic crisis between the kingdom and its northern neighbor.
The Spanish Information Council (a union body within the Spanish public audiovisual group RTVE) issued a statement denouncing "the irrevocable decision taken by the management regarding the exclusion of journalists from the Spanish public channel TVE, from a ’professional trip’ to the Tindouf Camps".
In addition to TVE journalists, their colleagues from other media are also supposed to travel to the Tindouf camps to interview the separatist leader, Brahim Ghali, among others. The management of this public channel justifies the travel ban imposed on its journalists by the "current political situation". According to the Spanish Information Council, this decision is contradictory with the principles of free and independent journalism.
