Spain Arrests Two Suspected Terrorists in Joint Operation with Morocco and Europol

A terrorist cell was dismantled on Friday by the Spanish National Police, in collaboration with the Moroccan Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and Europol.
As part of the joint efforts in the fight against terrorism, this collaboration led to the arrest of two individuals in Melilla and Mogan (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). They are accused of "alleged membership in a terrorist organization for recruitment and indoctrination for terrorist purposes".
According to the Spanish police, the investigation was opened following the report of the presence of a terrorist structure with ramifications in different countries. It is a cell "ideologically linked to the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda, whose ultimate goal is to impose an Islamic caliphate through armed jihad".
According to the results of the investigations, the two defendants were part of the terrorist organization and respected the internal rules imposed in this sense. Their cell was responsible for indoctrinating women with indicators of vulnerability, with little religious education, easily manipulable and influenceable, the same source specifies.
In addition, the searches carried out at the homes of the accused made it possible to seize many electronic equipment, telephones and documents. They are referred to the competent services for analysis.
