Spain and Morocco to Bolster Cooperation on Migration Control and Security

A working meeting is scheduled between Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska this Wednesday in Rabat and his counterpart Abdelouafi Laftit. To this end, the head of the Spanish Interior Department arrived in Morocco on Tuesday, according to a statement from his department.
According to Le360.ma, this meeting between the two Interior Ministers aims to strengthen cooperation between Spain and Morocco in the area of migration flow control and the fight against human trafficking mafias. The same source points out that the two officials should also discuss security-related issues.
In this regard, efforts are being made by the two parties in view of the figures of the International Organization for Migration. The same media also reports that in 2019, a total of 18,396 migrants entered illegally, compared to 32,451 in 2018, a decrease of 43.33%.
