Spain and Morocco Agree to Repatriate 14,000 Unaccompanied Migrant Minors

14,000 Moroccan minors who entered Spain illegally will soon be repatriated. Consistent sources indicate that the two states have been able to reach an agreement for these minors, in successive waves, to return home. This partnership has been demanded by the authorities of Ceuta and Melilla, who have repeatedly expressed their concerns about this migratory pressure.

It is a report published by the Spanish Government that reveals that nearly 14,000 unaccompanied Moroccan minors have illegally entered Spain, wandering the streets. Le360 shows that the immigrants, of all nationalities, mostly live in the cities under the territorial authority of the Andalusia region.

And Morocco is at the top with 61.89% of the total of minors. Commonly known as "Unaccompanied Foreign Minors in Andalusia" (MENA), they use various means to cross the Mediterranean, either by sea on makeshift boats, or hidden in international transport trucks, or hidden on board cars belonging to human trafficking networks.

Le360, which gets its information from the daily Assabah, reports that the police, in a press release, stressed that the objective of the repatriation is to offer Moroccan minors the essential protection and guarantees to prevent them from becoming victims of exploitation by the mafias of immigration and drugs.

Faced with the criticism launched by several organizations for the rights of migrants and refugees, the Spanish Government considers it necessary to return Moroccan minors to their parents for greater security.
