Spain on Alert as Morocco May Allow New Migrant Surge Across Strait of Gibraltar

After allowing thousands of migrants to enter Ceuta in May, Morocco would consider turning a blind eye to border control again to trigger a new mass entry of migrants into Spain through the Strait of Gibraltar.
Tensions between Spain and Morocco continue to escalate. After the diplomatic crisis opened by the reception in April of Brahim Ghali, the leader of the Polisario Front in Spain, and the migration crisis that followed in May with the massive arrival of Moroccan migrants in Ceuta, the Spanish intelligence services fear an imminent arrival of a large number of migrant boats from the Moroccan coasts, particularly in the Tarifa region, to Spain via the Strait of Gibraltar, reports OKDIARIO from reliable sources.

The Spanish security forces are concerned about this massive arrival of migrant boats, at a time when the European Cup is being held in Seville. Border agents are now on maximum alert.
The serious crisis between Morocco and Spain does not imply a security risk in terms of terrorism, despite Morocco’s suspension of police cooperation that facilitated the exchange of information on the entry of potential jihadists, the same source also indicates.
