Spain Adopts Morocco’s Territorial Map, Including Western Sahara

After changing its position on the Sahara issue, Spain has adopted the complete map of Morocco and its southern provinces.
The website of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published a map of Morocco including the Sahara following the visit of Pedro Sanchez to Morocco. During this visit, the President of the Spanish Government met with King Mohammed VI and members of the government council. The guest stressed that Spain and Morocco are two neighboring, friendly and partner countries, and this explains the strategic nature of their bilateral relations.
Madrid and Rabat have agreed "on a clear roadmap that allows managing issues of interest in a concerted manner, in a spirit of normality and good neighborliness, without any room for unilateral acts," said the senior Spanish official. "We are embarking on this new stage in the relationship between Spain and Morocco with hope and responsibility, as it will concretely contribute to guaranteeing the interests, stability and integrity of our two countries," Pedro Sanchez is convinced.
The visit of the President of the Spanish Government is part of the dynamic of reconciliation between Madrid and Rabat. On March 18, Spain expressed its support for the Moroccan autonomy plan, which it now considers "the most serious, realistic and credible basis for the resolution of the dispute" over the Sahara. A gesture of support long demanded by Morocco from the Iberian Peninsula, which has ended nearly a year of major diplomatic rift over this issue.
