Snapchat Launches 60 New Shows for Ramadan Viewers in Middle East and North Africa

Some 60 new shows have been launched by Snapchat with its partners to allow consumers to access, on their mobile phones and at their convenience, new content specially adapted to the holy month of Ramadan.

These new shows are organized in partnership with broadcasters, digital publishers and creators from the Middle East and North Africa region.

"People are spending more time on social and communication platforms these days, and are increasingly engaged in mobile content. A large number of our audience in the region uses Snapchat every day," said Fahad Alkhamisi, head of digital media at the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, reports Arab News.

Thus Snapchatters will have access through Discover partners to shows such as "Robe’3 Nejmeh" from Rotana Group; "Azma bel 3azba" from Dubai Media; and creator shows, including "Noor Stars" and "Banen Stars" from Diwan Group; "La Tagoolha" from the Saudi Broadcasting Authority; "Lovin Saudi Ramadan Eats" from Augustus; "Famille Anasala" from Alfan; and "Cosmo Mukbang" from ITP.

Nowadays, Snapchat has a monthly reach of 67 million in the region and 18 million in Saudi Arabia alone. For example, during Ramadan 2020, Snapchatters in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait spent an average of 77 minutes per day on the app. In Saudi Arabia, more people watch content on Discover than on any of the 10 other most popular TV channels.

"Snapchat’s Discover is the new digital majlis for Snapchatters during Ramadan and is the natural evolution of the story format, with shows produced by the best media publishers in the region, curated by the editorial team, safe and designed exclusively for Snapchat," says Sara Abu Aahra, Head of Strategic Media Partnerships, MENA and India, at Snap.
