Škoda Auto Expands Production in Morocco Amid Supply Chain Concerns

Due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, the Czech automaker Škoda Auto is strengthening its production capacities in Morocco and other countries.
Škoda Auto claims to be securing additional production capacities in Morocco and other countries, in order to protect the company against potential bottlenecks and supply chain disruptions in the future, reports Wards Auto. The arrangements will allow doubling current production volumes, if necessary.
The Volkswagen Group subsidiary has obtained additional production capacity from the company Kromberg & Schubert, in its plant in Kenitra. This will help mitigate the shortage of cable harnesses. It also plans to double the production of high-voltage cable harnesses necessary for the charging of electric vehicles. From September, the production of the Khmilnytskyi plant in Ukraine will be doubled after consultation within the VW Group. Then it will be Tangier’s (Morocco) turn to manufacture the cable harnesses for the Octavia and Superb models.
"With great dedication, we have managed to resume production in Ukraine in a short time and to significantly increase manufacturing capacities," says Karsten Schnake, member of the Škoda Auto Board of Directors for Purchasing. "At the same time, I can assure our Ukrainian partners that we are and will remain fully committed to them. They have our utmost respect for continuing to supply us as long as the circumstances allow."
