SKF Invests $4.5 Million in New Magnetic Bearing Plant in Tangier, Morocco

The Swedish bearing giant SKF announces an investment of 50 million Swedish kronor (around 50 million dirhams) in a new magnetic bearing production plant in Tangier. This decision, it is said, testifies to the company’s desire to strengthen its technical and manufacturing capabilities in this fast-growing field.
The new site, whose activities will be gradually extended during the second quarter, will make it possible to meet the growing demand for magnetic bearings. These components play a crucial role in turbomachinery as well as in other high-speed applications, including liquefaction of gaseous hydrogen and oil-free industrial compressors.
Thomas Fröst, president of the independent and emerging activities division at SKF, highlights the importance of magnetic bearings in both traditional energy sectors and emerging green industries, specifying that the company must maintain its leading position in terms of technical development and customer service in this field.
Magnetic bearings are one of the key technological growth areas for SKF. In 2022, the group recorded a record order of more than one billion Swedish kronor for these products, testifying to their growing importance in the market.
