Singer Faudel Faces Child Support Case in Moroccan Court

The raï singer Faudel appeared this Friday, February 7, before the court of first instance of Marrakech for a case of family neglect. The hearing was postponed to March 7.
Faudel is accused by his Franco-Algerian ex-wife of not paying the child support for their children. The French justice system has already sentenced the singer to pay arrears, but the decision has not been enforced in Morocco. Faudel’s ex-wife has therefore initiated proceedings before the Marrakech court, where the singer resides with his children and his new partner.
A preliminary investigation was opened by the public prosecutor, and Faudel is being prosecuted while at liberty. The lawyer of his ex-wife has proceeded with a protective seizure of the singer’s villa.
The case will therefore be examined by the Marrakech court on March 7.
