Sika Expands Global Footprint: New Plants in Morocco, Brazil, and China Fuel Construction Boom

Sika, the Swiss multinational specialized in the production of construction materials, has opened a new mortar and admixture plant near Agadir, in Morocco.

Thanks to its strategic location, the Sika plant in Agadir "will serve the south of the country and the neighboring markets. The site is equipped with the most modern production technologies and will meet the growing demand for construction materials in this fast-growing region," the company said in a press release published on Wednesday.

In addition to its site in Morocco, Sika has also developed its admixture production site near Belo Horizonte, Brazil, "thus strengthening its position in one of the country’s most strategic industrial regions." The plant, located in the state of Minas Gerais, "the country’s largest concrete producer and mining center," will supply major clients in the ready-mix concrete, cement, and mining sectors.

The Swiss giant has also expanded its site in the metropolitan region of Suzhou, "in order to support China’s urban development." The plant serves a region of over 12 million inhabitants and specializes in high-viscosity polyurethane technologies used for bonding and sealing solutions in the automotive, construction, and industrial sectors, the note said.

By 2028, Sika aims for an annual growth rate of over 4.0% for the construction sector in these three countries. The multinational has subsidiaries in 102 countries and more than 400 factories worldwide.
