Seven Bodies Found in Fertilizer Container in Paraguay, Including Moroccan Migrants

The Paraguayan police discovered highly decomposed bodies of seven people, including three Moroccans, in a container from Serbia. The announcement was made by the authorities on Friday.
The human remains were found in a cargo of fertilizer, belonging to an agricultural company, in Asunción, the capital. "Of the seven bodies, three would be of Moroccan nationality and one Egyptian," said forensic doctor Pablo Lemir to journalists, adding that the fertilizers would have accelerated the decomposition of the bodies. "One of the bodies shows signs of asphyxiation as the probable cause of death," he explained.
Before arriving in Paraguay, the container had made a journey of nearly 20,000 km, with stops in Egypt, Spain, before passing through the port of Buenos Aires, passing by river from Serbia to Croatia, the intended destination of the migrants, after their departure on July 21, according to local maritime authorities.
They had with them bags, clothes, phone cards with writings specific to Serbia and other personal effects. The bodies may be those of illegal migrants, said the prosecutor in charge of the case, Marcelo Saldivar.
