Sète Rapper Demi Portion Completes Global Tour, Teases New Album

Back in Sète, after giving a concert on each continent since mid-November, rapper Demi Portion, whose real name is Rachid Daif, lifts the veil on his projects.
The rapper from Sète and his team undertook a world tour in November with the aim of giving a concert on each continent. A journey that took him to Rabat, La Rochelle, Montreal, French Polynesia and Vietnam. "We were going into the unknown, with real challenges. In Morocco, we played in a theater in front of a seated audience. Something that made us get out of our comfort zone right from the start. In Montreal, we had a French-speaking audience who came to support us. Then there was the shock of Polynesia..." the artist confides to Midi Libre.
And he adds: "We were faced with people who had never listened to rap. The culture shock was incredible. I met a guy who took a seven-hour flight to come and listen to me! From that moment on, our roadmap completely exploded. We were so far from what we’re used to doing..." The rapper’s journey ended in Asia, in Vietnam. "There too, they welcomed us with open arms... After 25 years of rap, this trip has done me a lot of good to recharge my inspiration," he assures.
Back home, Demi Portion has started writing his next album, which will be composed mainly of collaborations with other artists. The artist gave a foretaste of it in May with the release of "Mots croisés", a track recorded with the Strasbourg rapper Dooz Kawa. "This year, I’m motivated to calculate things less. I want the music to speak. To return to more spontaneity, like what we were doing on the first albums. Hoping that the public will still like it." The album will be available before the end of the year.
After the writing workshops, Rachid Daif "would like to accompany young people," a small idea he has "had in mind for some time. "In this city, when you do rap, you have a stamp that you’re proud to show all over France. We fought for that. At the time we had nothing to lose and we said ’If we don’t do it, who will?’ I want to find that state of mind in young people and help them develop. For now it’s just an idea. But I want to do it. To take them under my wing, take them to concerts... I feel I have the maturity to do it."
