Two Sentenced for Smuggling 86 kg of Moroccan Cannabis into France

The Nîmes Criminal Court has sentenced two individuals to 42 months in prison for importing and transporting Moroccan cannabis. In total, 86 kg of drugs were found in a truck coming from Spain.
The facts date back to 2020. During a check near the Marguerittes motorway rest area on October 1, the customs authorities had discovered 86 kg of cannabis resin hidden in a compartment and a check for 19 million euros in a heavy goods vehicle coming from Morocco and transiting through Spain.
The driver, a 36-year-old man from Slovenia, and his accomplice, a 47-year-old Spaniard, were arrested and placed in customs custody. The second, who was driving a scout car, is accused of having opened the way by indicating to the first whether "there were any police cars or customs on the route," reports Midi Libre. The two men used mobile phones to communicate.
