Senegalese Woman Fatally Stabbed by Husband in Casablanca, Child Witnesses Tragedy

Yet another woman added to the long list of victims of domestic violence in Morocco. A Senegalese national died, stabbed several times by her husband.
The tragedy took place in the Farah Salam neighborhood in Casablanca. Fatoumata Badé (the victim) lived there with her husband and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, who, according to several media reports, witnessed the murder of her mother.
The Moroccan and Senegalese authorities have been seized and the investigations were carried out by the judicial police of Casablanca in order to arrest the husband who had fled after committing his crime. Senegal is currently negotiating with Morocco for the repatriation of the victim’s body to Casamance.
According to testimonies gathered from their relatives and neighbors, a fit of jealousy would have prompted the husband to "inflict at least five knife blows" on his wife. With her mother deceased and her father in detention, the little girl has been entrusted to the Al Ihssane association, chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaâ.
