The hearing will pit the Senegalese Football Federation, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Confederation of African Football against each other. It will be held behind closed doors, as the parties did not request it be open to the public.

The proceedings concern the decision handed down on March 17 by the CAF Appeals Commission, following an appeal by the RMFF based on articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations.

Sixteen minutes that still weigh on the trophy

During the final played on January 18 in Rabat, the Senegalese players left the pitch for sixteen minutes on the instruction of their coach Pape Thiaw. They were protesting against a penalty awarded to Morocco in added time.

Senegal then won the match thanks to a goal by Pape Gueye in the 94th minute. But the Appeals Commission ultimately ruled in Morocco’s favor and declared a 3-0 walkover victory.

The parties did not accept an expedited procedure. The case will therefore follow the usual calendar, the Court of Arbitration for Sport clarifies. After the October 8 hearing, the arbitrators will begin their deliberations.

The verdict will not be delivered the same day. The CAS indicates it is not yet able to announce a date for its decision. The final will therefore not be replayed on the field: its legal result and the awarding of the title will be examined once again.
