Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), reaffirmed on Thursday the validity of the Atlas Lions’ title at the 2025 AFCON. Before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Morocco is relying on the official withdrawal of Senegal.
Fouzi Lekjaa assures that Morocco has a "complete and solid" file to justify its title as 2025 African champion. According to the official, the legal facts and on-field evidence plead in favor of the Kingdom before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He emphasizes the existence of official reports and video recordings precisely documenting the incidents that occurred during the final.

The Moroccan argument is mainly based on Senegal’s abandonment during the match. Fouzi Lekjaa specifies that the referee’s report and the archive images formally attest to the withdrawal of the Lions of Teranga. This incident falls under Article 84 of the disciplinary code of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which made it possible to confirm the Moroccan victory after the exit of the Senegalese players.

The Federation president also clarified the attitude of his selection during this event. Morocco had initially agreed to resume play out of pure respect for the procedures in order not to expose itself to sanctions for abandonment. The Moroccan position remains strictly aligned with international regulations to secure this continental trophy won on the field.
