SDX Energy Expands Moroccan Gas Production with Two New Discoveries

SDX Energy, the British gas explorer operating gas fields in the Gharb basin in Morocco, announces that it has made two discoveries from the recently completed SAK-1 and KSR-20 wells. These discoveries pave the way for the opening of a new gas production area.
In a statement, the British company says that the SAK-1 well has already been connected to the group’s infrastructure and the test results indicate that the volumes in place will be on the upper side of the estimate. "The well opens a new production area to the northwest of the Company’s historical production area, with several other follow-up prospects identified within the SAK cluster," explains SDX Energy.
As for the KSR-20 well, it also led to the discovery of a gas field in the Gharb region. It is currently undergoing a pressure buildup test. "The well will be put into production as soon as the authorization and connection are completed, an announcement on the expected volumes in place will be made in due course," the British company notes.
With these discoveries, SDX Energy is revising its ambitions upwards. It plans to expand its drilling activities in 2023. "To date, more than 70 prospects have been identified in Morocco, of which 25 have been high-potential and total around 20 bcf P50 EUR unrisked," the British company specifies.
Mark Reid, CEO of SDX Energy, says he is satisfied with the results of the SAK-1 and KSR-20 wells. "The wells will immediately contribute to production and revenue growth in a region where gas demand and prices are robust. Morocco remains a key potential growth area for SDX and we look forward to planning further drilling in 2023," he said.
