Scam Ring Targeting Families of Inmates Busted in El Jadida, Morocco

Three scammers, who use subterfuges to deceive their victims, were arrested by the police in the city of El Jadida. Claiming to have good relations with senior officials of the city’s courts, they managed to defraud several people, including two mothers whose children were sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The three individuals had easy prey, the litigants who wanted an "illegal" service. Indeed, to deceive their victims, the defendants pretend to be relatives with close ties to the senior officials of the "Justice" house, in the city of El Jadida.

This is how they managed to defraud several people. However, according to Aujourd’hui Le Maroc, which reports the information, their misadventure began with two mothers whose two respective sons, involved in a criminal case, were incarcerated. Faced with the 10-year prison sentence handed down by the Criminal Chamber at the Court of Appeal of El Jadida, the two mothers began to find an intermediary to help reduce the heavy prison sentence.

When they managed to be put in contact with the scammers, the negotiations allowed the "reduction" of the children’s sentences to two years in prison, in exchange for a sum of 160,000 dirhams. However, unexpectedly, the three individuals vanished into thin air, after pocketing the tidy sum.

From then on, the two mothers filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Appeal, which gave instructions to open an investigation. Finally, the investigations carried out by the police led to the arrest of the three scammers, one after the other, as they were enjoying themselves. They are now all in prison.
