Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Morocco's Territorial Claim in Western Sahara

Saudi Arabia renews its support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara. This was done through the voice of its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al-Saud, who made it known on Tuesday to his Moroccan counterpart, during a videoconference exchange.

The two ministers, at the outset, welcomed the solidity of the relations between their two countries, thanks to the High Solicitude of King Mohammed VI and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, both determined to strengthen these relations and even to develop them further.

Regarding the Sahara, Saudi Arabia’s position on Morocco’s territorial integrity has not changed, the Saudi minister reaffirmed, adding that any solution to this regional conflict can only be obtained within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

In response to his counterpart, Bourita assured Saudi Arabia of his country’s support to defend its stability, territorial integrity and the security of its citizens and residents, as well as its initiative for a definitive solution to the crisis in Yemen.

Nasser Bourita and Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al-Saud also discussed several files relating to Arab and regional causes of common interest, marking the adherence of their two kingdoms to respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States and giving priority to peaceful solutions to Arab causes, without foreign interference, it is further learned. The two countries remain committed to the Palestinian cause, supporting the multi-religious character of the city of Al-Quds and the preservation of its legal status. They also intend to relaunch the negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli parties on the basis of what is retained by the international community, namely the two-state solution.

In the same vein, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the efforts of King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, to defend the holy city of Al-Quds and support its population, and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency. Joint meetings are announced to prepare for the next session of the joint commission.
