’SAS Rogue Heroes’ Star Connor Swindells Reveals Grueling Desert Shoot in Morocco

Actor Connor Swindells discusses the difficulties encountered during filming in Morocco for part of "SAS Rogue Heroes," a new British series by screenwriter Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders. Adapted from the eponymous bestseller, the series is based on the formation of the famous Special Air Services, the British special forces, during the darkest days of World War II.
The filming in Erfoud, in the Moroccan desert, of part of the World War II drama series "SAS Rogue Heroes" left a mark on the actors, including the Briton Connor Swindells who played alongside Skins actor Jack O’Connell and Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen. According to him, the filming was not easy, as the actors had to face several challenges, reports The Sun.
Sequences were filmed for several nights, "which was the most difficult because at night in the desert [of the Sahara] it is normally extremely cold. As a result, we wore tons and tons of layers, but the filming took place in the heat at noon," said the one who embodied the officer David Stirling, hospitalized after a training exercise that went wrong. He will add that the heat was intense and the rifle became heavier and heavier, take after take after take. "It was a fight."
Connor Swindells still has good memories of this shoot. He and his colleagues were able to enjoy the Moroccan sun.
