Salmonella-Tainted US Almonds Destined for Morocco Returned, Officials Say

The American almonds unfit for consumption, intended for the domestic market, have not yet arrived in Morocco, and have been returned to the suppliers, reassured the National Office of Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA).
Reacting to the controversy sparked by the announcement of the American company Blue Diamond Growers, which decided last week to recall 157,691 kilograms of almonds after testing this quantity positive for salmonella, the office provided clarification on the shipment sent to Morocco.
This quantity of almonds was exported to several countries, such as Morocco, Canada and Germany, the company alerted.
According to a source from the Office quoted by L’Opinion, this shipment was indeed on its way to Morocco, but it was diverted to the country of shipment before even arriving in the Kingdom.
