Salmonella Contamination Prompts Recall of Moroccan Thyme in French Stores

German distributor Metro announced a few days ago the recall of several batches of thyme from Morocco contaminated with salmonella in all its stores in France.
The Metro Chef brand thyme that the wholesaler sells are unfit for consumption because they contain salmonella, according to the government website Rappel Conso. This is why the German distributor has decided to recall several batches of this product sold in its nearly 100 stores throughout France.
The lots LF24097, LF24100, LF24101, LF24102 and LF24103 are affected by this measure. Presented in 30-gram sachets with the mention "fresh aromatic herbs", they are easily identifiable, according to the government website, which specifies that they were placed on the French market between April 7 and 15.
The consumption of products containing salmonella can cause gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting), accompanied by fever and headaches. These symptoms appear 6 to 72 hours after consumption and are more pronounced "in young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised subjects and the elderly," says Rappel Conso.
People with these symptoms are urged to go to a health center for appropriate care. The specialized website also invites anyone in possession of the thyme sachets to return them to the point of sale for a refund of the purchase amount.
