Ryanair Shifts Focus: $200 Million Investment in New Morocco Base, 25 Routes to Europe

Ryanair is setting up in Morocco, after leaving the Canary Islands. The Irish low-cost airline plans to establish a new base in Agadir and offer 25 routes to major European cities with 55 flights per week by the next winter season.
Ryanair intends to invest $200 million to set up a new base in Agadir from where it plans to operate flights this winter to European metropolises such as Brussels, Rome, Paris, Porto, Toulouse, Bologna, Dublin, etc. from 20 euros, it said in a statement. The implementation of this infrastructure will generate 60 direct jobs, the same source adds. According to Adel el Fakir, representative of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, the objective is "to offer a beach and golf destination during the European winter".
To recall, the National Court in Spain canceled in March the collective dismissal of 78 cabin crew members of Crewlink, operating on Ryanair planes in Spain, precisely on the bases of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote. The decision follows complaints filed by the USO union and the SITCPLA passenger cabin crew union against the airline.
