Ryanair Flight in Near-Miss with Multiple Planes over Madrid Airspace

A Ryanair plane flying from Rabat to London and four others narrowly avoided a collision in the Madrid sky.

The incident occurred on September 3rd. A Ryanair UK Boeing 737-800 (red on the map below), registered G-RUKB, operating flight RK-1365 from Rabat (Morocco) to London Stansted, UK, climbing to FL360 about 30 nm west of Madrid; a Nouvelair Airbus A320-200 (yellow on the map below), registered TS-INO, operating flight BJ-6131 from Porto (Portugal) to Djerba (Tunisia), cruising at FL360 about 40 nm west of Madrid, a B738 G-RUKB instructed to descend to FL350 and turn 40 degrees right; a British Airways Airbus A320-200 (purple on the map below), registered G-EUUE, operating flight BA-493 from Malaga, SP (Spain) to London Heathrow (UK), climbing to FL360 northbound about 20 nm south of Madrid and an Airbus A320-200 of Vueling cruising at FL350 narrowly avoided a collision in the Madrid sky, reports The Aviation Herald. These aircraft approached each other.

A TCAS RA (Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System) resolution advisory helped the pilots to correct their course and avoid the accident after the five aircraft came close to each other. After that, the aircraft continued to their destinations and landed without further incident.
