Ryanair Cuts Flights from Vatry Airport, Citing French Tax Hike

Vatry (Marne) airport will lose its two lines, including one to Morocco, operated by the Ryanair airline from March 29 next. The Irish airline justifies this decision by the increase in the solidarity tax on airline tickets in France, included in the 2025 budget.
In a letter dated February 21 addressed to the airport management, Ryanair indicates that it has been "forced to review its capacities in France". The low-cost company explains that it will transfer part of its operations to other countries in its network, where costs are lower. The company considers that the government’s decision to double the tax came at a "bad time".
This tax, applicable since March 1, has increased from 2.63 euros to 7.4 euros for domestic and European flights. This increase is at the heart of the disagreement between Ryanair and the French government.
