Ryanair Aims to Double Passengers in Morocco by 2030 World Cup

The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair unveils the ambitions it intends to achieve in Morocco by 2030, the year when the kingdom will co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
Ryanair intends to double the number of its passengers in Morocco to reach 30 million by 2030, Elena Cabrera, the company’s spokeswoman for Spain, Portugal, France and Morocco, told MAP on Wednesday in Madrid. In 2030, Morocco will co-host the World Cup with Spain and Portugal. The Irish low-cost company is already preparing for it. Its ambition is to deploy an ambitious growth strategy in Morocco in order to reach 30 million passengers compared to 15 million currently.
To this end, Ryanair intends to significantly strengthen its presence in Morocco, where it now operates on the domestic market, as the first European airline to offer domestic flights in the Kingdom, the spokeswoman added on the sidelines of a ceremony organized at Madrid-Barajas airport to celebrate the milestone of 200 million passengers transported in Madrid. The company also plans to open, in consultation with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), new routes at the level of the southern provinces of the kingdom.
Moreover, Cabrera did not hide her satisfaction with the "good progress of Ryanair’s domestic operations" in the kingdom. She assures that "Morocco is one of the countries where Ryanair has been recording the strongest growth in recent times. [...] Ryanair benefits from a strategic positioning that allows it to efficiently connect the Morocco-Spain-Portugal triangle, a major asset to ensure regional mobility in the run-up to the 2030 World Cup."
