Russian Confectionery Gains Easier Access to Moroccan Market

Access to the Moroccan market is simplified for confectionery and plant-based products made in Russia. A single certificate is now sufficient.

The information is announced by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade which, in a press release, specifies that since 2018, Russian confectionery producers had difficulties concerning customs and phytosanitary control.

The Russian veterinary and phytosanitary control agency and its Moroccan counterpart, the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), have signed a health export certificate for Russian plant-based products and food products not requiring mandatory veterinary and phytosanitary certification. The document has come into force, the press release states.

Thus, for the producer, a single certificate is now sufficient to export to Morocco. It will be issued by the Rosselkhoznadzor agency, in charge of veterinary and phytosanitary control, which will be accepted by the local health authority. The export procedure, particularly customs, will be all the more simplified.

The lack of this document explains the low volume of deliveries of these products to the Kingdom. It is now a new order, with the prospect of larger deliveries, given the growing demand for Russian confectionery in Morocco, foresees a Russian trade representative in the kingdom, quoted in the press release.
