Royal Air Maroc Subsidiary Layoffs Spark Protest in Casablanca

Dozens of flight attendants and stewards, laid off from Atlas Multiservices (AMS), a subsidiary of Royal Air Maroc, demonstrated on Wednesday in Casablanca in front of the company’s headquarters to protest against their dismissal.
For economic reasons (adverse effects of the health crisis), the company Atlas Multiservices has laid off several of its employees, including flight attendants and stewards. It notified the decision to the persons concerned by specifying to them that they will be entitled to "a meager financial compensation", reports Hespress.
On Wednesday, the employees laid off without notice organized a sit-in in front of the company’s headquarters to express their discontent. "The flight attendants and stewards were shocked by this decision taken by Atlas against 177 people," said Issam Ahmadi, one of the protesters who recalled the sacrifices made by the company’s staff to ensure the transport of medicines during the pandemic. "We took health risks during the repatriation missions of foreigners stranded in Morocco," adds the laid-off steward.
Issam Ahmadi, also recalling the tribute paid to the company’s staff by the CEO of Royal Air Maroc during the health crisis, appealed to him to plead their case. Camili Hassayen, a flight attendant, also laid off, spoke of the family and banking obligations of the laid-off staff, before inviting the company to reconsider its decision.
