Royal Air Maroc Steps In to Save African Champions League Match in Algeria

Mouloudia d’Alger (MCA) has called on the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) to transport the Beninese club "les Buffles du Borgou" with whom it was to play a return match of the preliminary round of the African Champions League on December 4. This club refused to travel to Algeria on an Air France flight.
The Buffles refused to make the Cotonou-Algiers trip via Paris with the airline Air France. The competition organization commission at the level of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) then asked the MCA to choose a new flight plan other than that of Air France via Paris, reports Afrik foot. Otherwise, the return match will be scheduled in a neutral country.
The MCA finally chose Royal Air Maroc, which will operate a Cotonou-Algiers flight via Casablanca. But this flight cannot be operated without the authorization of the Algerian authorities, as the Moroccan airline does not operate flights with Algeria. In addition, the Algerian borders have been closed since March 17 due to the health crisis related to the coronavirus.
In a statement published on its Facebook page, the Algiers club says it will send a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ask that the RAM plane be allowed to land at Houari Boumediene airport.
